1) Is Realign U like physical therapy or working with a chiropractor? No, although the exercises that you will perform at Realign U oftentimes complements exercises that are done in physical therapy and/or with a chiropractor, if you’re working with one already. Realign U meets you where you’re at (as determined by an assessment), starts you appropriately, and progresses gradually. The goal is to help you develop a fitness lifestyle that will be both enjoyable and rewarding, that will last the rest of your life.
2) Can I get a good workout at Realign U?
Absolutely! Realign U exercises are challenging, you’ll typically work up a sweat, and you’ll usually feel great afterwards! It really depends upon what your body is ready for, but you will be challenged!
3) I heard about Myofascial Release, and I heard it’s really painful. I’m a little apprehensive about that. Is it really worth it?
First, I understand your apprehension, and it’s completely normal to feel the way you do about this. Myofascial release can be painful, but it is well worth it!
Look at it this way. If after a period of time spent on working out myofascial restrictions and battling through the discomfort of this, you were able to workout relatively painfree the rest of your life, would it be worth it? Well, that’s oftentimes what happens!
Higher intensity exercise is typically made less painful if you spend a period of time working out myofascial restrictions and correcting imbalances first, so the trade off in the long term should be well worth it!
In saying this, however, Myofascial Release is NOT mandatory, and is not for every client.
4) What makes Realign U different than working with other personal trainers?
Most personal trainers are primarily focused on helping you reach goals and objectives such as maximizing the calorie burn and building muscle. While these are important, Realign U is different in that normally the initial goals are centered disproportionately on things like feeling and functioning better through more global stretching and Myofascial Release, to help prepare your body for the moderate to higher intensity exercises, while helping to minimize the chances of injury at the same time.
There’s oftentimes a strong emphasis on full body myofascial release and stretching exercises, as well as working to correct imbalances and develop balanced core strength. And then when you’re ready, we can progress you to those moderate to higher intensity exercises that will burn those calories and build that muscle! Realign U is hard work, but well worth it!
